On the evening of November 9th, the 2024 Guangzhou International Light Festival officially kicked off.
As the large screen at the main stage in Haixinsha Asian Games Park began the countdown, marking 365 days until the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China, air columns rose on either side of the stage. Simultaneously, 36 lighting installations, blending digital economy, artificial intelligence, and sporting elements, illuminated the night sky. In a groundbreaking moment, the Canton Tower was bathed in a 360-degree ring of light, synchronizing with the media facades of 24 buildings along Huacheng Square, Liede Bridge, Haixin Bridge, and both banks of the Pearl River, signalling the start of the 2024 Guangzhou International Light Festival.
From the media facades of 24 buildings along Jiangyan Road to Liede Bridge and extending to the media walls in the Pazhou West district, the festival uses the Pearl River as a timeline, with light installations as slices of the city’s vibrancy. This light symphony on the river ignites the passion for sports and showcases the dynamic, colourful heart of the Greater Bay Area.
The light festival runs from November 9th to November 18th. The main venue at Haixinsha will operate on a closed, reservation-only system, with entry granted via verification of original valid identification documents.
