On July 31, Chinese Ambassador to PNG Yang Xiaoguang attended the Launch Ceremony of the “2026 Charming China (Guangdong): Lingnan Culture Travels to the South Pacific (PNG)” and delivered remarks.

PNG Foreign Minister Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, and Governor for National Capital District Hon. Powes Parkop attended the event.
Ambassador Yang reviewed the achievements over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and PNG, and thanked the Guangdong delegation’s contribution to deepening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He said the Chinese side stands ready to deepen cultural exchanges with PNG, expand cooperation in various fields, and further promote the China-PNG Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Minister Tkatchenko thanked China for its long-standing support for the development of culture and education in PNG. He said that the PNG government firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and is willing to seize the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of PNG-China diplomatic rèlations to promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields and achieve more fruitful outcomes.

PNG guests from all walks of life enjoyed the wonderful performances presented by artists from Guangdong Province and students of Butuka Academy, experienced intangible cultural heritage, and viewed the exhibitions of Lingnan Cultural treasures, gaining a profound appreciation of the vastness, depth, and unique charm of Chinese culture.
