A joint exhibition of works by Chinese and Italian painters, named “High Mountain and Flowing Water: Mostra D’arte Degli Artisti Cinesi e Italiani”, was held in Bologna, Italy on November 18.
Co-hosted by the information office of Guangdong provincial government and Guangdong provincial department of culture and tourism, and co-organized by Guangdong Painting Academy and the Association of Independent Artists in Europe, the exhibition showcased 36 selected works by renowned Chinese artists and over 20 pieces by three prominent Italian artists, featuring a diverse array of artworks with various themes and styles and in different forms.
The exhibits reflect the artists’ exploration of progressive artistic directions based on their respective cultural traditions and the context of contemporary life, showcasing the distinct aesthetic interests and cultural perspectives of the Eastern and Western contemporary arts, and presenting a splendid artistic feast to viewers.
During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Deng Hong, secretary-general of Guangdong International Culture Association, signed a letter of intent with Maria Azzolina, president of Italian-Chinese Institute, to the effect that both parties will join closer forces to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong province and Italy.
Chen Jianwen, member of the standing committee of the CPC Guangdong provincial committee, head of the provincial publicity department and president of the provincial international culture association; Liu Kan, Chinese consul general in Milan; and senior officials of the Bologna municipal government, attended the opening ceremony and witnessed the signing ceremony.
The event is part of the “2023 Charming China – Cultural Exhibition from Guangdong” programs hosted by the information office of Guangdong provincial government and Guangdong provincial department of culture and tourism. The programs will be held in Egypt and Malaysia after Italy, aiming to promote cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and European, African, Asian countries, and to showcase the profound cultural heritage of Chinese culture and the charm of Lingnan culture to the world.
