At the beginning of the new year, the Maritime Guangdong Program is coming to Hong Kong with three short films. Hong Kong, as an old fishing port, has witnessed many people overseas and returning home to seek a childhood that can never be reclaimed. In these three films, the ocean element carries a special significance. It connects Chinese communities around the world, showing their desire and courage to pursue a better life. Set against the backdrop of the sea, the films tell stories of the experiences, family connections, and cultural inheritance of the Chinese people.
On January 14th, the Maritime Guangdong Program will hold a short film screening and post-screening exchange event at Lemna in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. You’re welcome to come and watch the films to rediscover the cultural shaping of Hong Kong through visual storytelling.
